Sustainable caviar – Swiss Style
Sustainable caviar
Renewable energy drives alpine sturgeon and fruit farm.
The 'Tropenhaus' or Tropical House in Frutigen is expected to prove a major attraction for visitors to the Bernese Alps this Christmas, offering a tropical experience for people seeking refuge from the winter chill. The project uses sustainable energy for growing exotic fruit and breeding sturgeon, which will soon produce caviar. (Julie Hunt, SF/swissinfo.ch 21.12.2009)
Babe Winkelman – My Hero

Musky Monday – The Flying Hellgrammite
The Harry Comstock Flying Hellgrammite:
From Liveauctioneers.com:
- The Harry Comstock Flying Hellgrammite. Patented January 30, 1883 in Fulton, NY, considered by many to be the first wooden lure ever made, with a 2 5/16" wood body, green painted head, natural finish tail, original red glass eyes, through body and side to side brass hardware, all original glass beads and hooks, with 1 7/8" nickel plated wings, both with original red painted accents and both clearly marked. This early American classic, very likely more than 125 years old, grades strong VG+ due to flaking of the green paint and one broken treble hook. The Flying Hellgrammite is very rarely offered for sale and can be considered extremely rare in any condition.
